American SAS Survival Archery Systems has developed the latest Takedown style survival bow and it is called a Scout. The Compact Scout Survival Bow is a modern longbow that is suitable for transport inside most daypacks. Assembling and disassembling does not require any tools, the Scout is also designed to be compatible with sights and quivers. The riser (handle) of the Scout Takedown bow is more rounded and ergonomic than the company's other survival bows, it feels more comfortable in the hand, but in this model there is no place to store any takedown arrows inside the riser - a small compromise had to be made at this point, and it doesn't hurt if you carry the arrows with you in other ways.

There are now 4 different models of SAS bows, which have been very popular since 2014 - the deal with the Scout bow was that people asked for a yet another new bow, one that could accept sights, quiver and arrows rests, just like the Ranger model. This time they wanted a cheaper price, but also better ergonomics. The end result is a modern longbow that can fit in a backpack but still serves a full 60" longbow with up to 31" max. with draw length. A simple and bombproof creation was born. Smooth and light draw, made in the USA in Lexington, Kentucky.

Both the riser and the detachable limbs are exactly 22" and the whole package can thus fit in most standard backpacks in transport condition. All components of the bow are corrosion and time resistant: the riser is made of Aerospace grade T6 aluminum and it works for both hands, you just turn the side of the blades and you can change right - or left hand configuration. Survival Archery Systems uses the Creo structural design program and in theory the handle (riser) of the Scout Takedown Bow can withstand millions of shots. In theory, but this has also been studied during the design phase of the bow.

The limbs are made of high-quality composite material, which is used in all Survival Archery Systems bows since 2014. Same stuff that most US combound bow manufacturers use on their limbs. The limbs are intended to be used only with the B-50 Dacro string, only this model is suitable for use with this bow.

The Scout Takedown Survival Bow weighs 1.3kg on its own and you can attach a sight and an quiver which use the ATA standard for mounting and threads. That is, almost all standard equipment is suitable for installation on this bow.
