Petromax

Petromax is the best-known High-Pressure Light in the world. Its name originates from “Kommerzienrat” (the highest civil honorary title in Germany of that time) Max Graetz who invented the lamp at the beginning of the 20th century. His friends Petromax HK500 used to call him “Petroleum Maxe” for which Petromax is the abbreviation. This name has been protected by patents since November 5th,1910. During the following years, the lamp proved to be incredibly popular. Millions of it were produced and distributed to all parts of the world.

Nowadays people are still fascinated by this lamp, which is handmade of more than 200 individual pieces. Fishing boats illuminate their catch with its impressive power of up to 400 watts and travellers tell their tales in its light.
