This so-called chimney effect recycles the hot gases generated from the wood, which then ignite again, you get maximum benefit of the burned wood.

The ventilation openings on the bottom take in replacement air and the wood gases heat up inside the double-walled cylinder, these gases are released from the openings on the upper side and they will ignite at this point again. A more efficient combustion means that you need less wood and boiling times are completed faster.
