Product info

The NorTent Steel Tent stove is made of stainless steel and is otherwise identical to the titanium stove of the same company. This has a little more weight, but in all other respects it is exactly the same as the titanium version. Makes camping and staying in a suitable tent a pleasant experience. The stove has an improved structure, a cleaner burn, a solid spark arrestor and better legs. The stove made of stainless steel weighs 3.9kg together with a 2.7m roll pipe. NorTent's stoves are designed for use in their tents, but of course this stove can also be used in other compatible shelters. Comes with a roll pipe chimney.

A decent wood stove provides unparalleled luxury and comfort inside a tent, no matter what the weather is like outside. The stove also doubles up for cooking, you can prepare meals and boil water on the top lid. You can leave some of the gas cookers and other accessories at home, as you can prepare all the food and boil water conveniently on the top of the stove.

And when it comes to wet gear, no problem. You come to your tent and you can dry the clothes and equipment that got wet during the day, no matter what the weather is outside. The stove removes moisture from inside the tent and condensation on the inner walls caused by breathing air. There will be separate carrying bags for both the stove and the roll pipe. You can easily share the weight with a friend, one carries the chimney pipe and the other carries the stove, for example. The dimensions of the tent stove are 383 x 204 x 185mm - for its size, excellent for 2-6 people tents, especially when burning good dry wood. Good adjustment options for draft and maintaining the right temperature is easy.

There are two different models of this stove: normal side walls and a door with a window in front or both side walls also equipped with windows. See available options. The windows are a nice addition, they create a nice atmosphere inside the tent and you can see at a glance what the wood situation inside the stove is. Of course, if we leave out the side windows and go with normal side walls, we save 400g in weight.

The material strength is 0.6mm, also has a reinforced cover and base so that warping, which is usual for compact tent stoves, would not happen so easily. Related to this: tent stoves should always be first burned under controlled conditions - do your initial burn on a completely flat surface, so that the stove is level and straight - let the stove heat up and cool down, this way a "memory mark" is left on the steel and possible warping of the lid or walls is minimized. It doesn't matter if they warp a little, but use this method to minimize the warping risk. The walls, base and lid of the fireplace are fitted to each other with the help of separate grooved pipes, thus the pieces are well attached to each other and in this way the manufacturer has been able to minimize possible warping.

The draft regulator is installed on the removable neck of the chimney, with this you can easily regulate the air flow and you can experiment to find the optimal burning time for the wood used and the weather conditions. Remember, however, that you have to be careful with the draft regulator of the chimney, the air must flow in all conditions, otherwise there may be a risk that the stove will push smoke into the tent. So make sure that in all conditions there is enough draft in the chimney that the smoke goes out along the chimney.

The stove cover comes with a fixed spark arrestor plate, it has optimal air flow, but is still able to prevent most of the sparks from entering the chimney. Especially if you burn pine or spruce, you can expect more sparks to end up in the chimney than if you were using dry birch wood. The spark arrestor on the lid catches some of the sparks, and there will be a spark arrestor to be installed separately at the end of the chimney as well. It can be a good idea to position the tent and the outlet of the chimney so that they are in the direction of the wind - this way, wind blows possible sparks away from the tent. If some sparks fall on the tent, it's not a big deal. The NorTent fabric does not catch fire, only a small hole is left in it. A small spark hole like this can easily be closed with a drop of silicone. Or with separately purchased Silnylon patches. So it's not worth stressing too much about possible loose sparks, they will come if the come. Most people experience never getting a spark on the tent fabric.

A separate additional layer of steel surface has been applied to the inner surface of the stove lid: this acts as a reinforcement, but also distributes heat to the lid much more efficiently. Normally, stoves of this style release a considerable part of the thermal energy directly into the chimney, there is a lot of wasted energy and the lid is not necessarily evenly heated over its entire surface. This extra steel plate distributes the heat better on the lid and thus heats the accommodation more efficiently - it also provides a more even heat distribution, so that cooking directly on the lid would be more efficient.

Note to the user: the roll pipe is difficult to get started, it has sharp corners and the use of gloves during the first installation is almost a mandatory accessory. When you get the roll pipe twisted into shape and burn a couple of times, it becomes easier to use. Always wear gloves when handling the roll pipe, it is a very thin and sharp material.
