Product info
Respecting tradition and not compromising on functionality, Helikon-Tex's latest take on the legendary SAS Smock jacket is here. The classic elements of the SAS Smock have been partly left and refined to make them more functional. New solutions have also been presented, and the end result is a wonderful vintage-inspired bushcraft jacket equipped with full modern functionality. The SAS Smock closes in the front with a zipper, but it largely follows the same formula as Helikon's earlier Pilgrim and Woodsman Anoraks. Made entirely of Duracanvas material, it can be waxed and in this case a greater resistance to snow and rain is achieved. The jacket is versatile thanks to its simple cut and adjustability. The light hood can be adjusted in two different planes, meaning you can position the hood precisely around the head depending on the weather conditions or if there is a hat underneath, etc. There are drawstrings on the jacket in two places, at the waist and hem - you can adjust both according to your preferences. The zippered ventilation pockets can be found in the armpits, you can easily ventilate if the going gets hot. This is a really great and lightweight jacket suitable for both summer and winter.
Originally designed as an army jacket, the SAS Smock is - after the Helikon-Tex update, very suitable for camping and bushcraft surroundings. A simple but well thought cut and the number of pockets set the pace for a winning bushcraft jacket. A total of 8 pockets. On the outside, four classic and square pockets with Canadian slotted style buttons. The setup is a tribute to the iconic British uniform jackets and they work very well too! Pockets with a button sewn into the strap are easier to open and the probability of these buttons coming off is almost zero.
At the upper chest pockets, there are also second additional pockets, working with a zipper. It's good to put everything flat in these, such as maps, cigarette boxes, etc. For the bottom pockets, there are also additional zippered pockets behind the main pockets. You can put your hands there to warm up or other stuff if you don't need to have own pocket for hands. Both of the pockets found at chest height have dummy cord loops, with which you can additionally secure, for example, a compass or other separate item with a cord lanyard. Paracord loops on both sides of the jacket hem, can hang gloves with a small carabiner and other small essentials.
