Product info

Since the beginning of the time, the Mayans have used natural means to make candles and fire. Fatwood has been in use for more than 3,800 years by local bushcrafters and it has often been a pine tree from which this high resin content and fragrant wood has been harvested by natural methods.

Maya Stick Fatwood comes in this bag for about a one kilogram, the bag contains about 40-50 sticks with a very high resin content, which will ignite an endless number of fires, stoves and other fireplaces. They also work if they get wet, burn harder and hotter than paper, wax or any other tinder material! A really good bag of tinder which will last for a very long time. The idea is not to throw these into a bonfire as is, but rather use them one stick at a time. To start a fire in nature, simply plane off a few chips from the tinder stick with the back of a knife and ignite with the kindling steel. One stick will last for a very long time and you'll get approx. 40-50pcs of dem stick with one purchase!

The package comes with about 1kg of fatwood sticks, they will last for a lifetime in normal use. These Maya Fatwood Sticks in question have been collected from Pino del Ocote, which have already been felled for one reason or another. No tree has been felled because of these, but the stumps of those already felled have been utilized. A huge amount of resin accumulates in the stumps, this is then collected and chopped into small sticks by hand and packed into this product.

Maya Fatwood sticks are an absolutely great tinder and easy to ignite. They are not produced from endangered trees, but rather are a surplus that can be collected from the remaining strains of trees felled for some other reason.
