The Radiance Quilt is designed to be used as a sleeping bag, but is open on the backside. You combine it with a sleeping pad, save on weight, and get an easier-to-access sleeping system than with a traditional sleeping bag. Spaciously designed and suitable for adventurers who want more space and the opportunity for different sleeping positions. Traditional sleeping bags are very often restrictive and do not allow for a wider position or several different sleeping positions. Top Quilts are a bit like a half sleeping bag, it's open on the back - the idea is to connect it to an existing sleeping pad with sufficent R-Value, so you can have a lighter solution for summer or combined with a primary sleeping bag for winter sleeping as well.

The idea behind Quilt-style systems is that they are lighter than traditional sleeping bags and the idea that there is no need for separate insulation on the back side, as normally the insulation of the sleeping bag will flatten out under the weight of the sleeper and thus lose its insulation. What is most important in the insulation below is a sleeping pad with the right R-value or an under quilt system if sleeping in a hammock.

The Top Quilt is absolutely good for hammock sleepers, instead of a sleeping bag and on a spring-summer-autumn axis for traditional tent campers as well - however, it is recommended that you combine the Quilt with a sleeping pad with the appropriate R-value. In cold weather, you can take Quilt to bring extra warmth to your existing sleeping bag + mattress combination, thus avoiding the need to purchase more expensive winter sleeping bags separately. The quilt attaches easily to the existing sleeping pad and sleeping bags with rubber bands.

The Alps Mountaineering Radiance Quilt is made of ripstop nylon and offers a comfort temperature of +2°C, making it ideal for three season camping. In case of cold nights, the Radiance Quilt can be completely closed at the top and thus minimize drafts. The Radiance Quilt is large and allows the user plenty of room to move, well suited for winter hiking if combined with a primary sleeping bag to bring extra warmth and insulation. The Quilt attaches to the existing sleeping pads and sleeping bags with rubber bands, so it stays in place.
